The novel depicts Tony's struggle to rediscover herself and navigate the complex social and personal challenges she faces. Through Tony's eyes, von Krusenstjerna explores themes of mental illness, female sexuality, and societal expectations, making it an in-depth study of a young woman's search for identity and meaning in a changing world.
