Jerusalem. Part 1 (1901) is the first part of Selma Lagerlöf's novel about a group of Swedish emigrants from Dalarna who seek spiritual enlightenment in the Holy Land. The book depicts their faith, sacrifices and quest for a deeper meaning of life.

In this installment, the reader is introduced to the Ingmar sons, an influential family in Dalarna, and their relationships with the local inhabitants. As a revival movement spreads through the region, many are affected, including the Ingmars, who begin to consider a pilgrimage to Jerusalem. The novel explores themes of faith, community and the human longing for spiritual enlightenment. Lagerlöf based the work on real events from 1896, when a group of people from Nås in Dalarna actually traveled to Jerusalem.
