Build a blog feature in Abicart

Here's a guide on how you can use product groups and products to build a blog feature on your Abicart store. This feature will allow you to publish content in a blog-like way and improve your SEO.

Step 1: Create a product group for your blog

1. Go to Assortment in your Abicart admin.
2. Select Product Groups and then click on New Product Group.
3. Name this product group for example "Blog" or something else suitable that represents your blog section.
4. Save the product group.

Step 2: Create a product for each blog post

1. Create a new product that will become your blog post, categorize the product with the new product group "blog". Each product will act as an individual blog post.
2. Name the product with the title of the blog post and fill in the relevant content in the form of text and image.
3. Leave the price field empty.
4. Check the 'For viewing only' box on the product page. This hides the buy button on the shop.
5. Save the product.

Step 3: Hide prices

Hide so that no prices appear on your blog posts:

Go to Assortment >> Settings >> Products without price.
Enable the option that allows products without price to be available for viewing and ordering.

Step 4: Customize the appearance

If you want, you can further customize the look of each product group page to mimic a blog page. With custom HTML/CSS you can create your own design in your store, read more about custom HTML and CSS here.

Step 5: Link to your blog

To make your blog accessible and visible, add the main "Blog" group as a menu item in your store's navigation. This will allow visitors to easily find and navigate to your blog from the main menu. In this manual you can read how to add a menu item.
