Tip: Recalculate currencies in Google Sheets with the GOOGLEFINANCE function

Abicart supports automatic currency conversion via the European Central Bank (ECB).

This means that when a customer makes a purchase on the platform, the price of the product can be automatically converted from the currency used by the seller to the currency in which the customer wishes to pay. Exchange rates are taken directly from the ECB and are updated regularly to ensure that prices are up-to-date.

Although this feature is available, it is sometimes necessary to recalculate currencies in your own files before importing. The quickest way is probably to use Google Sheets and the GOOGLEFINANCE function:

GOOGLEFINANCE can be used to convert currencies in csv files. To do this you can use the formula GOOGLEFINANCE together with the parameter "price" and specify the currency you want to convert from and to.

This is what the formula looks like:

=GOOGLEFINANCE("CURRENCY:" + from_currency + to_currency, "price")

Where "from_currency" is the currency you want to convert from (e.g. "USD" for US dollars) and "to_currency" is the currency you want to convert to (e.g. "EUR" for Euros).

Here is an example of how you can use GOOGLEFINANCE to convert a currency in a csv file:

Open a new Google Sheet and import your csv file with the currencies you want to convert.
Add a new column in the worksheet where you want to display the converted currency.
Type the formula =GOOGLEFINANCE("CURRENCY:" + A2 + B2, "price") in the first cell of the new column, where A2 and B2 are the cells that contain the currency you want to convert from and to.
Press Enter to see the result of the conversion.
Drag the lower right corner of the cell to fill the formula in the rest of the column.
