Reading modes

Based on how content is created or imported, the Prenly reader software lets the user consume the content in either replica mode or article mode - or both.
Replica reading mode
A replica page is simply a copy of a graphical image of a publication page, normally derived from a physical newspaper. The replicate mode lets users consume the content according to the layout that is normally seen in a physical newspaper.
The replica mode is possible for publications that are page based. This includes:
- Replica based files imported from Textalk Webarch (PDF, Adobe InDesign and more).
- PDF files imported from .
- Replica based files imported integrated external systems that are able to provide image files of pages, as well as article data and text box positions.
- Pdf files that are imported manually in Prenly Workspace.

A (blurred) example of how the replica reading mode may look like.
If the reading mode is enabled for the actual publication, it is possible to press a specific article (see the blue box above) to get into article reading mode.
Article reading mode
If the publication content exists as separate articles, the article mode is avaiable in the Prenly reader.
Article-based content exists if:
- A pdf document was imported to enable replicate reading mode, and the article contents were extracted by Textalk Webarch.
- Articles were created in the Prenly content editor.
- Articles were imported with a technical integration that supports article-based content.
- Articles were imported via the content integration api.
The article reading mode allows the user to browse between articles one at a time, which improves readability, removes distracting graphical elements and allows choosing your own preferences regarding font, text size, line height, column width etc.
The article reading mode also enables the possibility to let a speech engine read out the article text. This is poosible in the Prenly native reader and (for browsers that support text-to-speech) with Prenly web reader.
