Integration between Prenly and in-app web pages provides a consistent app experience

Until now, Prenly has mainly been used to display the e-magazine. But nowadays, the Prenly app can also contain other web content that your visitors can access via "customized tabs".

For the user, the experience becomes an integrated app that can offer several different services, such as the latest news, other customized web content, an online shop or a crossword portal.

To learn more about how to add a custom tab to your app, read our support guide on app menu settings (custom tabs).

A common issue when adding a custom tab with non-Prenly content has been that this content is on a separate webpage and cannot communicate with the Prenly content.

To solve that challenge, we've created an API called JS Bridge that can be used to give your users a seamless app experience.

When you implement JS Bridge on your website, the web pages in your custom tabs will be able to communicate directly with the Prenly part of the app with javascript calls.

For the login, this means that the user only needs to log in once, whether it is from the Prenly part or from your custom tabs with web content.

Also, users' consent settings will be synchronized between Prenly and your web application.

Through JS Bridge, users can also play audio found on your custom pages directly in our built-in audio player.

JS bridge is a custom-built javascript library that you need to install on the web page to be displayed in the Prenly app.

For a full list of what actions JS Bridge currently supports see our technical specification.

Please note that in order to use JS Bridge in your application, you will first need to contact our help desk to have them enable JS Bridge for your application in our admin system.
